Oppo N1 is the new flagship smartphone from Oppo. N1 is the
world’s first smartphone with rotating camera. Oppo N1 offers one of the finest
hardware. The phone packs full HD 5.9 inches screen with an amazing 374
ppi, 2 GB RAM and a Snapdragon 600 quad core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz,
there are two variants available, the 16 GB and the 32 GB one, the phone packs
a huge 3619 mAh battery to provide the juice, Oppo N1 runs Android 4.2 out of
the box, but that’s not it, the most innovative feature of Oppo N1 is the
rotating camera lens. Means that you will be using the 13 mega pixel for video
calling and the rear camera as well. However, Oppo N1 does not come with a
Micro SD card.
For everyone who owns this amazing device and are looking
for the easiest most convenient way to root it, here’s the method to root it,
all you need to do is follow the instructions carefully and have some basic
knowledge about rooting.
Note; This process does not install a custom ROM on your phone, it is only for people who are looking to get root access and install a custom recovery. Also, rooting your phone will void the warranty, so if you are advised not to root your phone.
Requirements to root your Oppo N1:
1) Make sure the USB cable you use is the one that was
supplied with the phone.
2) Make sure your Oppo N1 has an 80 percent charging or
above. This is highly recommended to avoid any hinderance in the rooting
process.
3) You should have the knowledge about ADB and Fastboot.
4) Go to Settings > Security > Unknown Sources
and allow.
How to root Oppo N1:
Step 1: Download the Oppo build 3 APK.
Step 2: Place downloaded APK on your phone.
Step 3: Run the APK you placed on your Oppo N1
and install it.
Step 4: After the application is installed, go
to Google Play Store and download SuperSu App.
Step 5: Now go to Settings > About Phone and tap
the build number 7 times. Now go back to Settings >Developer Options >
USB Debug Mode.
Step 6: Now connect your Oppo N1 to your
PC/Laptop
Step 7: Now open the fastboot folder and open a
‘Command Prompt’ from there, to do that, hold Shift and press right click, you
will see the option to open a ‘Command Prompt’.
Step 8: In the command prompt, type the
following command; adb uninstall com.qualcomm.privinit
Step 9: As soon as the uninstall is done, unplug
the Oppo N1.
That’s it, your Oppo N1 is now rooted. Now the next guide
tells you how to install a custom recovery on your phone. In case you don’ t
want to install the recovery on your phone, then don’t follow this guide. There
are 2 methods to install TWRP Recovery, and both are mentioned below in
details.
Install TWRP Recovery:
Step 1: Download and install Goo
Manager app on your Oppo N1; Goo Manager.
Step 2: After the app is installed, launch it and
grant the root access as soon as it prompts.
Step 3: Press the menu button and select ‘Open
Recovery’.
Step 4: Complete the recovery installation
process and you are done.
Install TWRP Recovery via ADB:
Step 1: Enable USB Debugging Mode on the Oppo
N1, to do that go to Settings > Developer Options and enable the USB
Debugging.
Step 2: Download the TWRP recovery image from
the link; TWRP
Recovery.
Step 3: Copy the recovery file you downloaded in
the last step and paste it on your Oppo N1. Make sure to paste the file in the
root of the phone and not in the folder.
Step 4: Connect the Oppo N1 to the PC.
Step 5: Open the Fastboot folder on your PC.
Step 6: Open the command prompt in the folder by
pressing and holding shift and pressing right click, from the menu, select
‘Open Command Window Here’
Step 7: After the command window opens, type the
following command to reboot your phone in bootloader; adb reboot
bootloader
Step 8: After the phone is rebooted in
bootloader, type the following command; Fastboot
flash recovery openrecovery.x.x.x.example.N1.img.
Make sure to replace the ‘x.x.x.example.N1.img with the name
of the recovery you downloaded earlier. As soon as you are done with the
flashing, reboot your device by entering the following command; adb
reboot recovery
That’s it, you are done installing TWRP recovery on your
Oppo N1. Both the mentioned methods will work efficiently, if you have any
difficulties using the one involving ADB, you can use the one that involves
using the APK.
