How To Root Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is now shining on KitKat’s version officially. The Android 4.4.2 KitKat was recently rolled out to Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 and brought some useful features. If you have loaded the KitKat update on your Galaxy S4 successfully and now looking for a trick to root it, you have landed on good platform. Here’s how to root Android 4.4.2 KitKat on Galaxy S4.

Requirements

  • Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 running on Android 4.4.2 firmware. You can check details of phone from Setting>About Phone/Device.
  • Download Odin for Windows.
  • Make sure device drivers are installed on PC.
  • Disable antivirus and firewall apps that can disturb Odin.
  • Download CF-Auto-Root tool for Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 from here.

How To Root Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update

Step #1: Extract downloaded zip files into a folder.
Step #2: Ensure your device is disconnected from the computer.
Step #3: Turn off your device.
Step #4: Once the device is fully turned off, reboot into download mode by pressing and holding down volume down, home and power keys.
Step #5: Go to the place where you have extracted downloaded files and fire up Odin3.exe file. Do not make any change in Odin, just ensure “re-partition is not checked”.
Step #6: Click on AP button in Odin and locate the CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5 file that was downloaded above.
Step #7: Connect device to computer, when “ADDED” message appears in Odin, press “Start” button to start the installation.
Note: If you Odin does not show “ADDED” message, ensure drivers are installed properly.
Step #8: Once the installation is done, your device will reboot in modified recovery mode and install SuperSu. If it stuck at boot screen, power off it and reboot into recovery mode manually by holding down volume up button along with power button. Once the SuperSU is installed, your phone will restore to store recovery and reboot into Android.
Step #9: You are done.

It is important to note that this root method will increase the flash counter. You can use Chainfire’s Triangle away to reset the flash counter. Download the app from play store
