In today’s world, almost all of us are using Facebook to
stay connected with friends and family. On an average, each person spends about
15 to 20 minutes on facebook. Now, Facebook Messenger users can take advantage
of Free Voice Calling as Facebook has rolled out a free VoIP feature (free
Voice calling feature) in its Messenger app for Indian Android users. Free VoIP
feature was available in the U.S. and Canada for iPhone users since February,
2013 and for Android users from March, 2013.
All Android users can make a free voice call
with one of their Facebook friends directly from their Facebook Messenger app.
Users don’t have to download an update to get the voice calling feature. The
feature will be available automatically. Users can make call over 3G or WiFi
networks. This free voice call service will use your data plan rather than your
actual minutes.
The Facebook Messenger app allows users to choose the
contact number, if their Facebook friend has multiple contact numbers under a
single profile. The VoIP feature is easy to use and has simple call interface.
The call interface will show the contact’s cover image in the background and
your FB profile image at the center. There is a call time on the upper left
corner of the screen.
On the lower side, Users can find touch icons such as
speaker and mute to block voice or to use loud speaker respectively. Users are
able to leave the call interface and navigate to other features during voice
calling. The service works best only if the Internet connectivity is fast. The
app doesn’t let you to make Conference call.
How to use the Free Voice Call feature?
First of all, open conversation thread with a friend.
Then, tap on the 3-dot Android menu button on the upper
right side of the screen.
Now, choose “Free Call” option from the drop-down menu.
Users can call any Facebook friend who has a blue lightening symbol against
his/her name. If your friend is not online or not available to take your call,
the “Free call” option will be grayed out
